“COLLAGE ART IS AN ACT OF URGENCY.”
Founded by artist and writer İpek Demirkan in 2021, collagebyid is a multidisciplinary art project exploring the intersection of analog collage, mixed media, art therapy, self-awareness and human consciousness.
At its core lies a fascination with chaos.
The chaos of collage creates an instant complexity in the mind. Fragments that once belonged to different realities suddenly meet — inviting the viewer to pause, think, feel and dive into their own rabbit holes.
When the eyes encounter a storm of thoughts, the soul may find its quiet breeze.
collagebyid was born from this paradox: the urgency to create and the desire to escape the urgency of time.
Through cutting, separating, choosing and reconstructing, images lose their original context and begin to form new relationships. Timeless fragments meet through glue to create a new reality.
This act of reconstruction lies at the heart of the project.
There is something deeply human about collage. We collect fragments of what we desire, remember, imagine and believe; we bring them together and give them new meaning. In this sense, collage becomes more than an artistic technique — it becomes a metaphor for our ability to reconstruct perception and imagine alternative realities.
This philosophy extends across collagebyid’s analog and mixed-media artworks, maximalist compositions, art therapy practices and original workshop experiences.
Through workshops centered around self-expression, intuition, identity and awareness, participants are invited to move beyond words and explore their inner worlds through images, colors, symbols and instinctive choices.
Some experiences result in individual artworks, while concepts such as "Sky in Me" workshop transform multiple individual expressions into one collective artwork and a shared visual story.
The goal is never simply to make something beautiful.
It is to see differently.
To create space between what already exists and what could exist.
To transform fragments into meaning, chaos into possibility, and the invisible into something we can finally see.
collagebyid aims to expand the culture of collage by bringing together the timelessness of art, the complexity of consciousness and the illusion of time — creating new realities, one fragment at a time.
